The 12 gauge CPM-12-250-78 is a 78 grain one stage 12 gauge Core Projectile Module (slug) to be used by those who load their own 12 gauge ammunition.
The kit includes the non-ORMD components described in the base recipe provided by SlapShot USA. It includes:
10 - CPM-12-250-78
10 - BPI X12X Gas Seals
10 - 1/8" Felt Wads
10 - .070" Nitro Cards
10- Unprimed 2 3/4 Skived Cheddite Hulls
Item Number Explained:
CPM = Core Projectile Module
12 = 12 gauge projectile
250 = 1/4 inch hollow point
78 = weight of slug in grains
This slug is used in the Precision Home Defense ammunition manufactured by SlapShot USA, LLC. The LA-78 ammunition as manufactured by SlapShot USA is a high performance ammunition designed to mitigate over penetration (full details available on product page). This slug is designed for personal and home defense applications and is intended to be used in fully rifled barrels only. This projectile requires spin stabilization so that it hits tip first. Rifled barrels with at least 1:35 twist rate will stabilize this slug adequately for defensive ranges.
MAP™ projectiles can be mechanically adapted for different performance. MAP enables manufacturers to maintain less inventory while having inventory flexibility. This enables leaner and more nimble manufacturing capability. For example, the Core Projectile Module (CPM-black component) used in the PHD-LA-78 is also used in Razor ammunition. By installing the Interchangeable Component (IC) it becomes the 118 grain two stage projectile used in the Razor shell. The IC can be installed after the PHD-LA-78 is an assembled piece of ammunition so an inventory of PHD-LA-78 ammunition can be changed to an inventory of Razor ammunition. The PHD-LA-78 is also live adaptation capable.
Live Adaptation Capability (patent pending)
Live adaptation is when assembled ammunition is altered to address an actual mission need. When a user alters the ammunition for a live situation, planned or otherwise, that is live adaptation.
Progressive Adaptability (patent pending)
MAP™ projectiles can only have an IC added to the CPM. Once an IC is installed it is a final adaptation.
SlapShot USA cautions reloaders to use the base recipe provided with the slugs as a prudent starting point. If changes are made, they should be small incremental adjustments. Components should be assembled into the shot shell in the order depicted in the assembly diagram provided on this page. This projectile is only to be fired from a fully rifled shotgun manufactured after 1995. NEVER fire from a shotgun with any kind of choked barrel.
